ChesLen Preserve

Late afternoon landscape as a summer storm approached.  The air was hot and humid with no wind.  The sun, low on the horizon to my back, highlighted the gathering storm clouds and accented the wild flowers blooming in the lust grassy pasture.  All was quiet.  Apparently the birds and wild life sensed the coming storm taking quiet refuge in the forested area of the preserve.  My steps quicken. The unnatural stillness was both foreboding and fascinating. I quickly snapped a photograph of the scene and returned to the safety of my automobile as the first drops of rain and clasps of thunder arrived.

ChesLen Preserve is one of the largest private nature preserves in Southeastern Pennsylvania. The 1.263-acre tract features agricultural fields, dense wooded stream corridors and rare serpentine barrens. The preserve is situated at one the high elevation area in Chester County. On the trail, there are many points where you can see for miles in any direction with no visible signs of urban development.

Photography was taken in late summer 2016 with a Nikon 7100 and 35mm f1.8 lens. If interested in the photo or exposure settings, contact me via email.
