This flower, better known as Star-of-Bethlehem, is native to southern Europe and southern Africa.  I found this specimen while hiking one of the nature trails in southeastern Pennsylvania.  A “Kentucky rabbit” in rural woodland PA?  Not, a physical reminder of the early European settlers that naturalized garden plants in the Colonies.  Botanical archeology at work.  In the nature preserves, many such examples can be found that give evidence to earlier settlements that are long abandoned and returned to nature leaving such floral footprints.
