Podophyllum Peltatum

If you are in a woodland area or hiking and see a number of umbrella like plants, most likely they are May Apples.  Late spring or early summer, a single white flower develops from each plant.  The flower drops off and a small green fruit develops.  Caution, do not eat.  All parts of this plant are toxic.  Chemical found in the plant were used to remove warts by North American Indians and prepared in small amounts for relief of stomach pain.
