This Assassin Bug nymph is a welcome guest to my garden. The assassin bug is an environmentally safe pest control agent. Note the prominent proboscis used to “stab” its prey and inject a lethal salvia mixture that dissolves the insect tissue. The resultant slurry is swallowed. The fine hairs on the legs and body parts collect sticky plant residue allowing collection of pollen and insect parts that adhere to the bug. You guessed it, natural camouflage suited for a true assassin.
