Leafcutter Bee

This is not a honeybee but a leafcutter  bee.  They are often confused with hoverflies or honeybees.  The leafcutter bee is darker than a honeybee and collects pollen in the hairs on its abdomen as opposed to pollen pouches of honeybees.  They are highly efficient pollinators as they “dance” across the flowers to smear the pollen on their body.  Downside, it takes the leafcutter bee many more foraging trips to collect pollen for the brood.
